Storage Westminster Modern Slavery Position
Storage Westminster is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and in full respect of human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all Storage Westminster employees, officers, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers who provide goods or services to our business.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Storage Westminster has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, including servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour, and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with any party that is involved in, or complicit with, modern slavery practices. Our leadership and management teams are responsible for promoting this stance across the business and ensuring it is embedded in our culture and day-to-day decision making.
All colleagues are expected to act with integrity and to support our zero-tolerance approach. Any behaviour that conflicts with this policy, whether inside our own operations or within our supply chain, is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action or termination of commercial relationships.
Supply Chain Standards and Due Diligence
Our supply chain includes providers of storage-related products, building and maintenance services, security, cleaning, technology, and professional services. We aim to work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights.
As part of our due diligence, we seek to assess the risk of modern slavery within our supply base by understanding the nature of the goods and services supplied, the locations from which they are sourced, and the labour practices likely to be involved. Where higher risk areas are identified, we prioritise further engagement and monitoring. We expect suppliers to have appropriate policies, training, and controls in place to prevent modern slavery and to be able to demonstrate evidence of these measures on request.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Westminster conducts proportionate audits of selected suppliers, either directly or through competent third parties, to evaluate compliance with our standards on modern slavery and human rights. These audits may include document reviews, site visits, and interviews with relevant personnel where appropriate.
If a supplier is unable or unwilling to demonstrate effective prevention of modern slavery, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. Where satisfactory improvement is not achieved or where serious violations are identified, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship. Our objective is both to protect individuals in our supply chain and to promote continuous improvement in labour practices.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We recognise that awareness and education are vital to the effectiveness of our modern slavery controls. Storage Westminster provides appropriate guidance and training to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier oversight, so that they can recognise risk indicators and respond appropriately.
We encourage all employees, contractors, and suppliers to speak up about any genuine concerns relating to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers or other designated management contacts, and will be handled sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. No individual will suffer any form of retaliation for reporting concerns in good faith, even if they turn out to be mistaken.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Westminster is committed to continuously improving our approach to identifying and managing modern slavery risks. We regularly review our policies, supplier engagement processes, and audit findings to enhance the effectiveness of our controls and to respond to evolving best practice and legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed on an annual basis by the senior management team. As part of the review, we assess the effectiveness of the measures described in this statement, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for further improvement. Updated versions of the statement reflect any changes to our structure, supply chains, operational practices, or risk profile.
By maintaining clear standards, robust supplier oversight, accessible reporting channels, and regular review, Storage Westminster seeks to play a responsible role in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from business and supply chains.
